According to the 11th annual Cyberstates report, Pennsylvania had a net gain of 6,400 high-tech jobs in 2006, bringing industry totals to 210,200 high-tech workers with wages of approximately $15 billion.

Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse reports that over the next five years, new tech initiatives are expected to create 4,400 new jobs while attracting 100 new biotechnology companies. And according to Pennsylvania Bio, bioscience technology professionals in particular will benefit from the state's collection of biotechnology incubators, business schools, research parks, diagnostics and testing companies, and contract research organizations.

Pennsylvania is home to fifty Fortune 500 companies, with eight located in Philadelphia and King of Prussia and seven located in Pittsburgh. Manufacturing, finance, and insurance technology industries are concentrated primarily in southeast and southwest corners of the state.
